The team functions as a Disaster Medical Assistance Team within the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS), and is administered by United States Department of Health and Human Services/ Office of the Assistant Secretary of Preparedness and Response.  NDMS was created in 1983 to address the need for a coordinated response of the nation's health care system to a disaster event that overwhelms an area's healthcare infrastructure.

Our membership is comprised of a variety of professionals who possess expertise in healthcare, logistics, or administrative related areas. In addition, many team members are cross-trained in multiple disciplines, making themselves more resourceful to the team and the disaster victims that we serve.

More information about joining the team can be found under the recruiting section of this site.
